I put this lesson learned at the top of the list. Reason: while looking back at my life, I realized I would not be where I am today if I was not a dreamer. Are you a dreamer too? Or do you think is childish, or too naive?
Ever since I could recall, I was very curious and wanted to know everything. Many questions were in my head. What was happening? Why was it happening? How was life outside my circle? Questions about nature, about adult life, you name it, I wanted to know.
Even as I am writing this article, I remember the first time I saw a plane. It passed over my village and I immediately started wondering where it was going. I was also waving and shouting, hoping somebody will see me and will take me on board.
I started dreaming of how those places would look like, and of course, picturing myself being present there. That moment remained with me forever as a vivid memory, and that is how the dream of travel and exploration was born. Since then, I lived and worked on different continents, traveled the world, and enhanced my life with new experiences.
I have many other examples, from how I envisaged myself as a professional, getting an MBA degree, to what kind of person I want to be. All my dreams materialized because I had a strong visualization, I was seeing the details and feeling all the emotions as if already happened. This is what I refer to as “if you believe.”
However, is it enough to believe? Of course not. Action is required, and we have to do our part. We have to put our time and effort into everything we do. And there is one more ingredient, called receptivity. For making things happen, we need both parts equally. Just doing is not enough, we have to learn how to become more receptive as well.
What is important though is for all of us to have dreams and aspirations. This is the only way to push our limits and evolve as human beings. If each of us would dream of becoming better human beings, and each would take action towards that, this world would be a better place for everyone.
It is possible, let’s make it happen!
