Today is Thanksgiving, and I wanted to take some time and reflect on what I am thankful for in my life. You may be celebrating this holiday with your family and friends. However, did you take a minute to count your blessings? Honestly, we should do this every day and every moment, not only on special occasions like this one.
For my friends from other parts of the world, Thanksgiving is a US holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Originally, it was a harvest festival where the colonists in Plymouth and Wampanoag Native Indians celebrated back in 1621. In 1863, it was proclaimed as the National Thanksgiving day.
This particular day is more than just sharing a meal with our loved ones, is about being thankful for everything we have in life. It is not enough just to think of it, expressing it and let everyone know how you feel is of utmost importance.
I have been blessed my entire life, from family and friends I love dearly, to all the little things I got to have, do, or experience. I am thankful to everyone and everything. Recently, I have been able to dig a little bit deeper and experience something more.
In the past, I was taking for granted certain things . Then, I realized those are not small things. This life will not be able to exist without these things. Therefore, I am thankful now for the air I breathe, for the food I eat, for the water I drink.
When you truly realize that another life form is giving its life for you to survive, then your whole perspective in life is changing. Or that the tree is exhaling what you are inhaling. First, you become conscious and then thankful for everything is surrounding you.
As I write this article, I am also thankful to you, the reader, for giving me the opportunity to share my life experiences with you. I encourage you to give thanks and be grateful, because you will see the positive outcome in your life.
