Why our body needs Vitamin C

Why our body needs Vitamin C

If you did not know, Vitamin C is indispensable to our health because it regulates many functions in our body. Are you consuming it on a daily basis? If not, here are some reasons why you should do it and which one is absorbed better in our body.

Most of us are thinking of Vitamin C only when we get a cold, or we prepare for a trip, as we want to boost our immune system and not get sick. In fact, vitamin C is responsible for much more, here are some examples:

  • It determines absorption of microelements, such as magnesium. This process is important for the collagen production, which is necessary to maintain or regenerate healthy joints, ligaments, and skin.
  • It affects liver’s production of glutathione, which is necessary to regulate not only the serotine and dopamine, but the endocrine system as well.
  • It protects our cells against the effects of free radicals with its antioxidant properties.

Our body does not produce this vitamin; therefore, we have to take it from our diet. We know Vitamin C is present in certain foods like citrus fruits, spinach, broccoli, etc. Which is why it is very important to incorporate such fruits and vegies in our daily diet.

If, for some reasons, we cannot consume these foods on a daily basis, or the amount is insignificant comparing to the minimum dose, then we need to take supplements. However, what kind of supplements? There is a plethora of them in the marketplace, from capsules to chewable tablets.

No one can compare a tablet with a great, fresh lemon juice. But how much juice should one drink daily? I was looking for a liquid Vitamin C supplement, because it has a high concentration and the body can absorb it easily.

I found an amazing product made from just three super foods: camu camu berries, found on the floating islands of Amazon, acerola fruit from Barbados, and rosehip. These three ingredients also have an anti-inflammatory effect on our body.

Did you know 100 grams of purple camu camu fruits has 2061.01 mg of vitamin C and 1910.31 mg in green camu-camu fruits? (Alves et al., 2002). Acerola has 1357± 9.5 mg of Vitamin C per 100 grams of fresh fruit. Just one fruit of acerola contains as much Vitamin C as 2.2 pounds of lemons.

A doze or two of twenty-five ml of this product daily will provide you with necessary dose of vitamim C. If the shot is too sower, you can create a tasty lemonade with it. You can get yours here:
